새 강아지나 유기견을 입양해서 함께 놀아줄 장난감을 사주고 싶으실 텐데요. 적절한 장난감도 있지만 피하는 게 좋은 장난감도 있습니다. 예를 들어, 많은 분이 개와 공은 찰떡궁합이라고 생각하시지만, 사실 이건 상호작용하기가 정말 어렵습니다. 강아지가 보호자 없이 혼자 노는 법을 배우게 되면, 보호자에게 다가와 교류할 필요성을 덜 느끼게 되기 때문이죠. 그래서 우리는 주고받는 상호작용이 없는 장난감은 선택하지 않는 것이 좋습니다. 이런 것들은 최고의 장난감이 아닙니다. 이제 이런 건 재밌는 소리가 나서 좋다고 생각하실 수도 있는데요. 이 역시 강아지가 혼자서 가지고 놀 수는 있겠지만, 상호작용하기에는 적합하지 않은 장난감입니다. 그럼 "이건 인형이고 안에 삑삑이도 들었으니 좋겠지"라고 생각하실 겁니다. 물론 강아지가 아주 좋아하겠죠. 분명 좋아하겠지만, 강아지가 힘이 세거나 성견인 경우 인형 팔다리가 아주 쉽게 뜯겨나갈 수 있습니다. 그러면 강아지가 삼킬 수도 있는 위험한 물건이 남게 되죠. 이 역시 좋은 선택이 아닙니다. 게다가 상호작용하기에 정말 좋은 장난감도 아니고요. 이런 방식으로 조금씩 주고받을 수는 있겠지만, 많은 경우 강아지는 보호자의 손에서 최대한 멀어지려고 합니다. 그러니 한쪽 끝에는 강아지가 좋아할 만한 것이 있고, 반대편에는 보호자의 손이 강아지에게서 멀어질 수 있도록 손잡이가 달린 장난감이 좋은 선택입니다. 다양한 모양의 제품들이 많이 있습니다. 이렇게 단순한 꼬임형 터그 놀이 장난감도 있고요. 바닥에서 뱀처럼 움직여서 강아지의 흥미를 유발할 수도 있습니다. 아니면 더 긴 거리를 유지할 수 있어서 강아지가 쫓아오게 만들 수 있는 장난감을 선택할 수도 있겠죠. 그냥 뒤로 물러나서 강아지가 이것을 쫓아오게 하면 상호작용 놀이가 시작됩니다. 터그 놀이 말이죠. 이건 많은 욕구를 충족시켜 주는 장난감이에요. 이렇게 열리거든요. 안에 무언가를 넣을 수 있어요. 삑삑이 소리가 나는 걸 선택할 수도 있죠. 저는 그냥 돌을 좀 넣은 병을 넣어봤어요. 많은 강아지가 이런 걸 아주 좋아하거든요. 여전히 상호작용이 가능해요. 여전히 정말 재미있죠. 그래서 이 장난감은 강아지의 주의를 끌고, 그 주의를 유지하며, 함께 상호작용 놀이를 하기에 아주 좋은 도구입니다. 물론이죠.
So you've got a new puppy or rescue dog and you want to get some toys for that dog to interact with, but there's some that are appropriate and some you might choose to bypass. So for example, people think dogs and balls go great together, but this is really difficult to be interactive with. And if a dog learns to play without you, then there are less need for them to come and interact with you. So we don't want to choose toys that there isn't really a give and take with. These aren't the best toys. Now something like this you might think is great because it makes a goofy noise. Again, something that maybe a puppy could play with by themselves, but not such an interactive toy. Then you're going to go, well, this is a stuffed animal and it's got a little squeaky in it. So the puppy would really like it. Sure they might like it, but if it's a tough puppy or an older dog, these arms can get ripped off super easy. And then you've got a dog that potentially has something you could swallow. Again, not the best choice. Plus it's not really a great interactive toy. Even though you could have a little bit of give and take this way, you're a lot of times a dog wants to get as far away from your hand as possible. So something that has something maybe attractive at one end and a handle for you to get your hand away from the dog is a great choice. And there's a lot of things that could take on different looks. So something as simple as this, this is just a braided tug. You can snake it on the ground and get the puppy excited about it. Or you might choose something that allows you to get a longer distance away and that the dog will chase after. You just back away and get that dog to chase after this to start that interactive game of tug. And this is one that suits a lot of needs. So it opens up. You can put something inside. You might choose a squeaky. I chose to just put a bottle with some rocks in it. A lot of dogs love that. It's still interactive. It's still a lot of fun. So this is a great toy to get your dog's attention, to keep their attention and to play an interactive game with you. Of course.
