Okay, this is a really good one too. You know, every now and then you get some of these questions and answers that come in, and they just make you chuckle. In this one, these people have an eight-week-old Rottweiler and Beagle cross, and it's biting. And they don't know what to do about it, so they play dead. Until the puppy stops biting them. I had never heard that technique before. I should maybe do a video on doing that, how to play dead when you're getting bit by a puppy. I'll read it. Thank you so much for your time. We rescued an eight-week-old Rottweiler Beagle mix. Well, the vet told us that it might be a mix. He wasn't sure. He's still too young to know exactly what he is. Well, he's a puppy. We got him last Sunday night. As of Tuesday night, he became very ill. We took him to the ER, and we found out he had worms. Good for them. I mean, you have to give him an attaguy on that one. He also became sick from the anti-flea and tick formula that we put on his body. It was recommended by the pet shop. Okay, that pet shop and everybody in it needs to go to the dumb and dumber class on how to deal with dogs. Really a dumb thing to do on a puppy. And unfortunately, these people found out. Either way, we took him to the ER and then to our regular vet. He slowly started to recuperate after they damn near killed him with the flea and tick garbage, which was really nice to see. Now that he seems to be getting completely normal in strength, he won't stop biting us. Probably because he's so happy that you saved his life. It's almost like an attack. He aims for any... He... I'm sorry, I shouldn't laugh. He aims for any part of our body that he could reach and he tries to bite it. He doesn't bite our hands too hard, but we have to protect our lower body with two pairs of pants and sneakers and high socks. I should do a video on that one too. He likes to growl when he's pulling and biting. He mouths... No. He mounts his body on our lower legs. Does that mean that he needs to be fixed? No. No, just it's unacceptable behavior and redirect him off of doing it and when he gets a little bit older, he's not going to do it. He blocks our passage and gets between our legs, making it hard for us when we walk. He snaps and... He snaps and goes from being sweet to aggressive in one second. He throws his little body towards us to start biting and tugging. It doesn't seem like normal puppy playing behavior or is it? It is. We've gotten so discouraged. We've tried ignoring him as soon as he bites us, which causes him to stop for a minute, then he charges at us again. We've tried making noises like puppies do when they get hurt by siblings

and playing dead afterwards. I'm sorry. I shouldn't laugh. It worked before we... It worked before he got sick. We're really concerned. We're afraid he's turning on us. Right now, it's all right because he's a small puppy. Our worries are when he starts to get bigger and stronger, we need to make a decision fast. We might have to give him away, but we don't want to. We've done a lot of research and we know he shows many signs of aggression. No, he doesn't show any sign of aggression. I'm sorry. Or, so we think. They think wrong. Can this be fixed? My parents' safety is one of my biggest worries. The dog is controlling us at this point. Really? At night, he's placed in a large playpen inside the house with his toys and water. We wouldn't put water in with a puppy overnight. We would pick the... We would take the puppy out just before we go to bed. And if they want to put him in an X-pen, and he'll stay in that X-pen, that's fine, if not a crate. But we take the puppy out. We'll pick the water up with our puppies when we're trying to house train them. We'll pick the water up depending on the dog when it eats in the evening. I'm not going to tell you at six, five, seven. You have to figure it out. But we don't leave water in an X-pen overnight with the dog. Besides the fact that it might spill it, it'll also cause the dog to have to pee more. So, we put the dog in a large playpen inside the house at night with his toys and his water and a giant pillow for him to rest on. He seems so sweet when he's resting. But, when we're near him, him, without the puppy pen, it's like he turns on us. Please help us. We're willing to get him fixed and give him training classes at the pet shops near us. But, we told the people at the pet stop about going to Learburg and they quit talking to us. It's because, because PetSmart has the worst training program on earth. My opinion, they're one of the people that train all positive dog training. No aversives, no corrections, no nothing. So, you should be able to sweet talk your dog into doing what you want for food rewards or whatever for the rest of his life. until he sees something that's more interesting than your food rewards or you. So, back to these folks. Puppy biting is normal. Kudos to them for getting the medical problems taken care of. Look at the videos. We'll put some little videos in here on how puppies interact with one another when they're with litter mates. and it can get ugly. They can growl and bark and scream and holler at one another but that's how they learn to interact. That's how this puppy was interacting with them. Bring them into your home. How do they know any different? How do they know that they don't do that with people? Well,

they know it because you've got to teach them. How do you teach them? Well, I mean, we have puppy training class or puppy training online courses and videos and streams but you redirect them. When they start biting, you give them something else to do. Use high value food rewards. If you can't get them redirected onto food rewards or doing something else, you pick them up and put them in the dog crate or put them in the X-pen. You just don't allow that to happen because if you let it happen, it's going to get worse and worse and worse and worse but don't let it happen and keep the puppy on a leash in the house and the worst case scenario is he starts to bite you. You've got control of the puppy. Pull him away from you. Give him a high value food reward. Take his mind off of biting you onto you giving him high value food rewards. You can try and see if he has a favorite toy. Keep it with you. Most of the time, young puppies that are eight weeks old are more interested in food than they are in toys. That's not always the case. You can test a lot of different toys to see if they have a favorite toy. Redirect him off of biting you towards his favorite toys. They don't have to be expensive toys. You can go to Walmart and buy these soft little goofy little toys that they have for five bucks and use it for a little while as long as there's not something on it that they're going to pull off like those eyes that they sew on them. You don't want the puppy chewing that off and eating it. Or if you see that it's starting to chew a toy up and getting the stuffing out of it, well then you throw that one in the garbage. And if it happens again and again, well no more of those. You can give a puppy, you can redirect him off and give a puppy a bone in a dog crate and you don't get in the habit of saying, I'm going to show this dog how tough I am, I can take that away from him. That's not the way you do it. You open up the door and let the dog come out, close the door and get the bone out of there later. Or you trade the dog a high value food reward for the bone and put it away. But that's what these folks need to do. They need, the puppy's fine, laying down, playing dead, that's a good one, I had never heard of before. But if they do their work right, this could end up being a nice dog. Just learn how to manage them.
