Hello, my name is Ed Frawley. My wife and I own Learburg. This is one of the questions that we get in through our Ask Cindy portal on the front of Learburg.com. It's a good one because these people are trying to be a little proactive and they want to know what training information they should get before they get their first puppy. First I'll read it, it's short. We will be first-time dog owners. My brother-in-law has used your training videos for his dog for years and they've worked very well. Our dog will be a family dog. We have a seven-year-old child that's a little timid around dogs so we know we need a dog that's well trained. We're getting a Bernie Doodle. It's a new one for me. Not bad, just new. It's about five to six weeks old now. What video would you recommend or training courses would you recommend we start with? Well that's a good question too because you're gonna be organized when your puppy comes. It's gonna make life so much easier because we're gonna kind of show you what to expect and how to work through problems and how to prevent problems too. So I always tell people to start with the video that I did, Title Your Puppy, Eight Weeks to Eight Months. That's been redone a zillion times since I first started producing dog training videos back 40 years ago in 1982 and the last time was just a couple years ago. And it's just based on our experience. I bred German shepherds for 35 years, not for the last 11. There were years that we had 10 litters of German shepherds within a year. We have a professional breeding facility that's empty now but it was a lot of work and a lot of experience in raising puppies and Cindy's the same way. She's been in the business for over 40 some years, worked at a vet for 20 years, had a boarding kettle for 20 years. But back to what we would recommend. We have very good online training courses that we've done with our friend Michael Ellis. We're gonna put these videos at the end of this little Q&A so you know. We've got a very good video on house training puppies that we did with our friend Mark. When to start obedience training is a good question because that's depending on the puppy you have. They're like kids. Some dogs will have enough energy and enough drive that they want to learn right from the get-go. Some dogs we're not going to get involved with any formal obedience until they're four to six months old. During the eight week to the six month period we focus totally on management. And we've got good videos on that too. So we'll add the resources that we would recommend at the end of
