여러분이 거실에서 반려견을 바라보는 그 따뜻한 시선으로 반려견을 바라봐 주셨으면 합니다. 여러분은 그 반려견을 사랑하니까요. 어디를 가든 그 따뜻한 시선으로 반려견을 바라봐 주셨으면 합니다. 네, 물론 우리는 반려견의 행동을 관리해야 합니다. 네, 반려견이 흥분 역치를 넘지 않도록 확실히 관리해야 하죠. 네, 반려견의 자신감을 키워줄 수 있도록 도와야 합니다. 하지만 반려견이 가장 좋은 모습을 보일 때처럼 항상 그런 시선으로 반려견을 바라보셔도 좋습니다. 혹시 누군가 다가와서 훈수를 두려 한다면 그냥 이렇게 말씀하세요. 저희는 지금 여기서 최선을 다하고 있어요. 수잔 가렛에게 배우고 있는 중이라 완벽과는 거리가 멀다는 걸 알지만, 우리는 정말 먼 길을 왔습니다. 제가 반려견에게 최고의 삶을 선물하기 위해 노력하는 동안 부디 인내심을 갖고 지켜봐 주셨으면 좋겠습니다. 더 대화하고 싶지만, 지금은 정말 저희 강아지에게 제가 필요하거든요.
I want you to see your dog the way you see your dog in your living room. You love that dog. I want you to see that dog everywhere you go. Yes, we have to manage our dog's behavior. Yes, we have to make sure that we can keep them under threshold. Yes, we have to help grow their confidence. But I give you permission to always look at your dog the way you do on their best days. And if somebody comes up and tries to give you advice on it, just say, hey, we're out here doing the best we can. We're learning from Susan Garrett and I know we're far from perfect, but we have come so far. And I hope you can just be patient with me as I try and help my dog have the best life possible. I'd love to talk to you, but really my dog needs me.
