This is the fun thing with a puppy. We've got to have short sessions. I would say that is a long enough session and we're going to come back. He's curious. He's attentive. He wants to do more work. He's looking around, but this is a great time to end it. You don't want to go too long with a puppy. We'll give him a little downtime. He'll go outside, have a pee, maybe have a little rest. And we'll do this again. We'll do this again in a few minutes, right? Is this a thing? Is this a thing? Is this a thing? You've got to think. Okay. So now let's play that same game and teach him to love putting a head halter on. All puppies at one time. We're going to have to have a head halter on us. Here we go. So I'm just going to, good. Puts his nose in that bucket. Okay. What if it's that overwhelming? He's saying that's a little overwhelming lady. Can you eat the cookies out of that little plastic cup? Can I have the head halter on? Okay. Nice. There you go. There it is. Putting it on. Liking it. It means good cookies are coming. I really like wearing the head halter. That's it. So now we've got the start to, can I have my head halter on, please? It started. No, I don't. No, no. I need my head halter on. Please. Please have my head halter on. It's over here, little one. Oh, I must. I need to put it on. Oh, that's so good. We've got to get you doing it in front of the camera. I guess we've got back camera. Oh, this is a Gibby boy. He's a Gibby boy. That's it. We need the puppy saying, oh my gosh, I love the leash. So the same thing. Leash is on the ground. I would take the poop bag off of it.

Oh, here we go. Picnic. Picnic here. You look like a little bear cub. Could be like, not your average bear picnic. Well, as soon as the lady gets distracted, I'm going in for the picnic. Good. So now what I want him to target is just this clip. Just this clip. Because this is what's really going to come in for him. Good boy. Good boy. Good boy. So there's no cookies. The sight of the collar means something great's going to happen. He's choosing. I can put that on him and he's like, yeah, that's good. I like that. Good things happen. Lots of good training for the baby. Good. That better. So I want the association now that the leash coming towards you, he's chosen to go towards the leash. Now, if I take your collar and bring the leash towards you, good things happen. You know what? You could be watching TV. It's just a fun game to play with your puppy. Put in some time. And then here's the big tip. If you're going somewhere where you wouldn't be taking the puppy off leash unless it's a fenced in area. So this is coming towards you. I'm going to clip and I'm going to give you a cookie. If you're taking your puppy out somewhere and you're taking them off leash, and then you're saying, I've got to go, we're going home. You've got to go back on leash. Here's what I want you to do. I want you to clip on the leash, give them a cookie, take off the leash, let them play for another three or four minutes. Come get them back over, clip on the leash, give them a cookie, clip off the leash, let them go play for another couple of minutes. Sometimes you'll do this three times before you actually leave the park. Sometimes you do it four times or five times. If the puppy comes near you, go, oh, did you, did you, instead of just giving them a cookie, you can say, here, here's your leash. It's on. Now your leash is off. You can go play. That way, the dog doesn't look at this as the terminal end to all fun. Oh, that thing's coming out and I'm at

the park. Oh no, that's like the dentist drill. I'm not getting a root canal today. I'm keeping playing with my boys. That's not happening. All right. So another great session for my puppy. He's like, this has been fun. I want to end it with another relationship building with him. Come here, buddy. We got one more game to play. There we go. There we go. There we go. Got it. We's got to sit. We's got to sit. We got to sit. We got to sit. We got to sit. And it's really important to go back and forth between food and cookies or toys and cookies, because it's great to have a lot of tools in the toolbox when you're training a dog. So the three biggies for training, permission, food, toys, never lose sight of that. And that is a great session for a little eight week old puppy. So that's it for today. Two little sessions and look at what we accomplished. Dogs are just brilliant. They're just begging to show you how brilliant they can be. It's all about building trust, creating clarity, growing confidence, and having a great time together while you're doing it. Right, Mr. That's it. And... Tater's pretty good at hitting targets.
