'도파민 딜러(Dope Dealer)'가 되어라, 그리고 사실 도파민 딜러가 되는 것은 마약상과는 아무런 관련이 없습니다. 음 도파민은 마약류를 의미하는 '도프(dope)'라는 단어에서 온 것이 아니며, 그 두 가지는 서로 다른 예시입니다. 실제로 어원이 거기서 유래했는지 찾아봤는데 아니었습니다. 하지만 '도파민 딜러'가 되는 것, 즉 마약상을 뜻하는 '도프 딜러'가 되는 것과도 의미가 딱 들어맞습니다. 음 마치 도파민을 거래하는 것과 같기 때문이죠. 그가 설명한 방식은 이랬습니다. 중독자가 마약상에게 찾아오면 마약상은 그들에게 모든 것을 다 퍼주죠. 그들을 중독시켜 꼼짝 못 하게 만들고 처음에는 아무런 대가도 요구하지 않습니다. 그러다가 다음번에 올 때는 아마 조금 더 많은 것을 요구할지도 모르죠. 그래도 여전히 전부 다 주고, 그다음번에 오면 훨씬 더 많은 것을 요구할 수 있는데, 점점 더 적게 주게 됩니다. 결국 마약상이 전부 다 퍼주던 관계에서 마약상을 찾아오던 사람이 딱히 많은 노력을 할 필요가 없었던 그 상황이 역전되어 이제는 마약상이 아무것도 주지 않거나 오히려 많은 것을 요구하게 되는 거죠. 이것을 반려견 훈련에 어떻게 적용하는지 말하자면 제가 여기 영상을 하나 올릴 텐데요. 이 영상은 저와 두 마리의 어린 개, 레전드와 벤처가 함께하는 모습입니다. 둘 다 말리누아인데, 첫 번째는 벤처이고 두 번째는 레전드입니다. 기본적으로 벤처는 음 음 음 음 음 향해 가고 있을 때 어 그 상자 도파민 상자가 거기에 있잖아요 걔가 머리를 넣자마자 저는 머리를 계속 넣고 있으라고 요구할 거예요 저는 요구하지 않아요 걔는 이전에도 박스 작업을 해봤거든요 하지만 만약 박스 작업을 한 적이 없었다면 저는 그냥 방 안에 자유롭게 풀어줬을 거예요 아마 조금 더 작은 방이 좋겠지만 그렇지 않더라도 그냥 방 안에 자유롭게 풀어주고 만약 걔가 상자를 쳐다보기만 해도 그러니까 조금이라도 관심을 보이면 바로 잭팟 보상을 줬을 거예요 하지만 여기선 그냥 가서 거의 코만 살짝 상자에 넣어도
the dopamine jackpot and what they found was I I think the illustration that was used is uh was it monkeys I'm pretty sure and so there was an exercise that had to be done whether it was push a button or whatever and then there was a reward what they found when it was when they made that variable so in other words um either the reward was decreased like to 25 percent of the reward or increase like 75 percent sort of everything all at once the total reward um then the amount of dopamine really skyrocketed and the way he explained it was when they introduced the maybe Factor so it really is what it creates an anticipation that anticipation creates dopamine and dopamine is the uh the feel-good hormone so let's see I can't see comments on here so I'm trying to juggle but so um and I love the way Bart explains it and he in class he talks about he says Be The Dope Dealer and really being a dope dealer has nothing to do with um dopamine doesn't come from the word uh like dope those as far as drugs that's two different uh illustrations but I looked it up to see if that's actually where it originated but it's not but it fits perfect you know to be the dope dealer to be the drug dealer um is it's like dealing in in dopamine as well and the way he explained it was you know if the addict is coming to the drug dealer they just kind of give it all to them you know get them stuck put that hook in them and they don't require anything and then the next time they come they might require a little bit more and give them everything and the next time they come they might require you know even more and give less and eventually where the dope dealer was given everything and the person who was coming to the dope dealer um you know didn't have to really do much the script flips and so that the dope dealer is now giving nothing or requiring a lot so it um the way this in dog training and I'll post a throw this video up here um this video is just me and I have two two young dogs Legend and Avenger will be the first they're both Mouse one the first one is Venture and the second one is Legend and basically uh Venture will be going for uh the Box the dopamine box out there and as soon as he puts his head in I'll require him to keep his head in it I don't require he's done box work before but if he what hadn't done box work then I would just kind of let him loose in the room probably a little bit smaller room but even if not I would just let him loose in the room and if he even just looked at the box I would you know if he gave any attention to it I would jackpot him but right here he just goes he barely sticks his nose in the box and

바로 보상을 다 줘버리는데 이게 정말 기대감을 많이 쌓아주거든요 그리고 음 그 후에는 레전드(Legend)에게도 똑같이 할 건데 이번엔 어 클랙 클랙 보드(clack clack board)로 하는 거죠 보드요 그렇게 진행하면서 솔직히 말해 걔네들은 이미 이 단계를 다 넘어섰지만 음 무슨 일이 일어날 거냐면 저는 걔네가 상자에 더 가까이 다가가거나 혹은 머리를 상자 안으로 더 깊숙이 넣거나 아니면 더 긴 시간 동안 유지하도록 요구할 거예요 음 그러니까 보상을 전부 주기 전에 말이죠 그리고 그냥 그리고 영상도 하나 있는데 음 저기 실례합니다만 잠시 확인 좀 할게요 바트(Bart)가 설명하는 영상도 가지고 있는데 하지만 저는 음 음 다시 한번 [음악] 저는 정말 아무것도 요구하지 않았어요 화려한 것도 아니고 특별한 것도 아니죠 그저 음 그저 무언가만 있으면 됐고 물론 걔네들이 클랙(clack) 소리를 몰랐다면 말이죠 상자도 마찬가지로 나라면 개가 상자에 가까이 가거나 관심을 보이면 바로 간식을 전부 줄 겁니다 시간이 지나면 개는 더 많은 노력을 해야 보상을 얻게 되겠죠 음, 여기 이 영상 전체를 통해 바드가 여기 위에서 설명하고 있는데 좋은 위치인 것 같네요 어디 봅시다 제가 메시지를 보냈는데 이 훈련도 그렇고 노블 훈련도 처음엔 다 퍼주면서 매일 조금씩 영상을 만들어 갈 겁니다 처음엔 다 퍼주는 거죠 좋았나요? 아니요 그럼 개가 그것을 추구할 이유가 생기겠죠. 방금 개 행동 보셨나요? 확신이 없는 모습이었죠 목줄을 밀고 나가지도 않고 목줄에 매달리지도 않았어요 정상적이라면 개는 전력을 다해 줄을 당겨야 합니다 그게 부적 강화가 되는 거예요 줄을 물고 버티면 우리는 클릭하고 놓아주며 보상을 주는 거죠 이런 식으로 진행할 겁니다 즉, 개는 은행에 돈을 투자해서 큰 수익을 얻는 법을 배워야 하는 것과 같아요 마치 마약상과 비슷한데 우리는 별다른 행동을 안 해도 마약을 많이 줍니다. 계속 상황 공유할게요 감사합니다 이게 바로 사람들이 흔히 간과하는 점이라고 생각합니다 그러니 개가 처음에는 최소한의 노력만 보여도 보상을 충분히 많이 줘야 합니다 그렇게 함으로써 개가 우리가 원하는 행동을 하도록 기대를 만드는 거죠 그리고 나중에 희망이 충분히 생겼을 때 조작을 더하고 부적 강화를 조금 더할 수 있죠. 하지만 희망이 전혀 없는 상태에서 부적 강화를 더하면 개는 아, 어쩌면 개는 이렇게 생각할 거예요. 오 안 돼, 이건 너무 과해. 나한테는 그렇게 중요한 일이 아니거든. 왜냐하면 그 훈련에 대한 희망과 열망이 별로 없으니까요. 많은 사람들이 그걸 간과하는 것 같아요. 맞아요. 네, 저도 그런 경우를 정말 많이 봐요. 저조차도 가끔은 한발 물러서야 할 때가 있죠. 예를 들어
boom I give him everything and it really just builds a lot of Hope and then um after that I'll do the same thing with Legend but it's with uh clack clack board and so as this progresses and honestly they're already past all this but um what would happen is I would require them to get closer to it or the box or to keep their head in the Box further or for a longer period of time and um you know before I gave him everything and I'll just and then we have a video um what's excuse me check real quick make sure I also have a video of Bart explaining it but I'll um well again [Music] I didn't really require anything nothing flashy nothing special just um just something and of course if they didn't know the clock you know and the Box already again I would if they just got close to it or gave it some attention boom I'd give him everything again and as time goes on they'll have to do more for Less you know um here's give me throughout this video of Bard up here explaining it a good spot for it let's see I messaged this exercise and even for a noble exercise we give him everything and we will make a little movie every day we give him everything was it good no then he has a reason to go for him what did you see the dog was not believing in it he was not pushing in the color he was not hanging in the collar normally they must go full power in the in this leash and that makes negative reinforcements they grab it they hold it we click release and they give they get approved and that's how we will proceed so it's like a dog must learn to invest the money from the bank that gives a lot of return it's a little bit we play The Dope Dealer we give a lot of dope for quite no Behavior we will keep you posted thanks and that's that that's the thing I think people oftentimes forget so you must give the dog a lot of Hope first for yeah the minimum effort they show so therefore you create a lot of Hope for the the behavior you want them to do and then later you when you have a lot of hope you can add your manipulations and add a little bit of negative reinforcement and when you have no hope and you add a negative reinforcement the dog will say oh maybe the dog would say oh no that's too much because it's not that important for me because it has not so much hope and desire for the exercise and that's what a lot of people forget I think yeah I mean I see that a lot and I even have to back up sometimes you know too

행동을 형성(shaping)하려고 하거나 부적 강화를 사용해서 행동을 형성하려는데 개가 좀 저항하는 모습을 보일 때 말이죠. 음, 예를 들면 촉각을 이용한 엎드려를 가르치려고 할 때 음, 개가 엎드리는 것에 저항을 보인다면 음, 개는 엎드리는 것에 대해 별로 희망을 느끼지 못하지만 어쨌든 그 행동을 하면 개가 엎드리는 모습을 보일 때 잭팟 보상을 주면 말이죠. 그럼 다음번에 개가 저항을 보였던 지점이 최소 기준이 될 것이고 개는 그 수준에서부터 시작하게 될 거예요. 그러니 조금 더 밀어붙여 볼 수 있는 거죠. 그 부분 다시 한번 말씀드리면요. 제가 말하는 걸 깜빡했는데, 아까 Bart가 영상에서 했던 것처럼 개에게 이미 익숙한 행동으로 되돌아가서 희망을 잃었거나 혹은 이미 그런 열망을 잃어버린 행동에 다시 희망을 불어넣어 주는 거죠. 화려할 필요는 없으니 그렇게 활용하시면 됩니다. 음, 다시 한번 '도프 딜러' 역할을 하셔도 좋고 어, 일종의 재구성을 위해서죠. 어, 행동에 대한 속도나 힘을 다시 키우는 겁니다. 죄송합니다. 아니에요, 괜찮습니다. 또한 매우 중요한 것은 어, 바로 항상 작은 단계로 조금씩 나아가는 것입니다. 그리고 그런 작은 단계를 밟을 때, 예를 들어 사람들은 아마 이렇게 말할 수도 있겠죠. if I am trying to shape a behavior or use negative reinforcement to you know shape the behavior and then I see the dogs kind of show some resistance um just for example if you're you know trying to teach a tactile down um you know if a dog is showing some resistance to going down well the dog don't see a lot of hoping going down but it feel man just a dog looks down and you jackpot it well then the next time where the dog showed resistance that's going to become the minimum standard and it it's going to be the dog is going to start off in that you know at that level and so you can push it a little bit further that part again so I I failed to mention that even just um going back like what BART did in the video there going back to a behavior that the dog already knows and Building Hope back into behavior that a dog has lost hope for or lost you know they're not really flashy in it you can use that um you can be the dope dealer again just uh just to kind of rebuild uh your speed or power into Behavior sorry no you're good also what's very important uh is that you make small steps always little steps and when you have those little steps for example like with the people could probably say yeah but if I do that when I reward even the looking at the clock lock or even looking at at the bottom for the for a down tactile come in and they would say yeah but that takes it takes very long yeah maybe in the beginning it takes very long but if you make small steps and you go on move on move on every day with a small step it's even better than you take a lot of time for a big step so at the end of the day small steps have always been better and also better for the dog to understand and the dog having more fire more uh yeah hope for for the behaviors we want to to do yeah it's also pretty even if it does even if it does take longer um which like you said really it it really won't take longer but in our minds it does because we're making we want to see a lot of progress all at once but if we'll just slow down then even if it did for some reason take longer the end product that you have the dog's attitude you know um is it's so much different Legend I've taught him I'm jackpot at him so I taught him in the middle position the center position where he goes between my legs flips around and comes back um Legend and uh he uh a jackpot of that behavior one time and I can't get him to stop doing that like he'll charge at me to get through my legs turn around and come back and I'm telling you I could almost do an entire project in the yard without him leaving that position yeah he sees a lot of Hope in it and um it's it's crazy how that works but

you know you break it down in smaller steps but how to take those steps and build the passion into each successive step and how to really had a jackpot how to build your dogs really inherent dopamine production and into a behavior so it's there there's a couple small videos um but it's a really it's a profound concept that doesn't take a long time to explain or to understand so and Valerie's also posted in the comments the link to Robert sapolski's uh video where he has broken broken it down and then there's a video of Bart in there and a couple of my dogs just doing a simple jackpot on a couple behaviors so um and you can't well you can't do nothing wrong with that if you do a jackpot session I could go wrong so right just try it out and see if it works out for you and your dog yep it'll make a difference 100 listen you know that's how I that's how I create train is I I jackpot you know I let my dogs out hungry and I don't have to tell them to go to their crates they they'll fight to get to their crates wondering if there's something in there for them so do you notice any difference on the frustration due to different rewards for example do you see any difference between the frustration when you're rewarding with food to the frustration when you're rewarding with a bite so I'm assuming that that's the frustration is you talking about like where you would normally reward you withhold that reward and require a little bit more from the dog so in if you're familiar with the nepopo triangle that's not a very good triangle but I think you can see that pyramid really is what it is the bottom uh level of the triangle you're rewarding every Behavior right and then the middle level on the triangle is your our intermittent well it's our proofing phase but it's where it's really where the magic happens it's sometimes rewards sometimes don't reward sometimes that's where the maybe comes in and that's where you in if a dog does something and you don't reward and their custom tubing rewarded than if you withhold the reward and the dog gets frustrated and it kind of offers it a little bit faster you know if a dog just kind of barks that's what you wanted then you don't reward in the dark it's like hey you know Bark's a little bit more then you jackpot that or reward that um that's with food um so but I think the question here is there a difference between Jack potting with food and with a toy or a bite or a ball if I'm reading that right sometimes I'll have a ball in my training vest and I know that my both of my dogs they prefer a toy over food anyway so sometimes I will you know they'll go stick their head in the box so let's just say that

for example or go touch the clap clack board and instead of jackpot and food and I'll click and throw the ball and they turn into psychos at that point so um I don't know that I'd see a difference I think it depends on if your dog has more food drive or more toy drive or drive for a sleeve whether or not there would be a difference in the frustration between the two so I think that's an individual question for a dog if a dog doesn't have any toy drive or a drive for a bite but if they have a lot of food drive then you know if you're going to Jackpot if you're going to use um if you're going to be the dope dealer or if you're going to use a jackpot of any kind of reward it has to be a jackpot to the dog it doesn't matter if you think it's a lot if the dog doesn't assume or if it doesn't mean a lot to the dog then it's not a jackpot so and also later our goal will be that the the dog is able to switch the drives as a reward so when you have an active decoy around um you also gotta be able to reward your dog with let's say dry kibble so you always have to be able to go down into the reward system when we say the highest reward is the active decoy and the lowest reward is the dry cable food so that makes it a lot easier later when you maybe go for PSA let's say and you will not always reward with the decoy because then the decode becomes everything and for the dog and the dog's not anymore looking at you so therefore you gotta see that you sometimes also go back from the active decoy as a reward you go back to the dry kibble or a ball even the ball that comes from you so that will make your life a lot easier if you if your only reward is not the decoy it's also something that you have like dry food or or a ball or a toy that comes from you so my question Dominic would you use that as would you kind of use the pre-mac principle there so if if there's an active decoy on the field and then the dog's seeing that is the reward but then you click or do whatever you release your dog to the reward but the reward is to come to you and get the food he gets the food and then goes and gets the decoy is that that that's also possible so that that the food is is the announcement when he gets the food that's the announcement then later you come get the to buy the decoy but um yeah I it's just my personal opinion so I decide for the dog what he has to take as a reward if it's really the highest reward for the dog maybe maybe not but I don't care but the dog has to take what I will offer him because then later he can he's not able to decide what he wants not today I don't want a food because I want the decoy so I always
