학생 여러분, 우리 모두가 가장 좋아하는 챕터 중 하나에 오신 것을 환영합니다. 우리가 그런 말을 자주 하지만, 이번에는 정말 사실입니다. 정말 완전히 판도를 바꿀 내용이 될 겁니다. 정렬(Alignment)이 드라이브(Drive)보다 우선합니다. 자, 이게 무슨 뜻일까요? 그리고 왜 이것이 여러분에게 판도를 바꾸는 데 그렇게 중요할까요? 먼저 정렬이 무엇이고 드라이브가 무엇인지, 왜 정렬이 드라이브보다 우선하는지 정의해 드리겠습니다. 그리고 왜 애초에 정렬이 드라이브를 능가하는지 설명해 드릴게요. 정렬은 우리가 동기화(synchronicity)라고 부르는 것입니다. 우리가 하는 움직임 훈련이나 피벗 동작에서 그렇게 할 수 있습니다. 컨택트 힐(Contact heel)은 모두 동기화에 관한 것이며, 한 걸음 앞으로, 한 걸음 뒤로 움직이고, 피벗을 하고, 스트리트 힐(Street heel) 역시 정렬을 기반으로 합니다. 즉, 반려견이 여러분과 정렬을 맞추는 법을 이해한다는 뜻입니다. 처음에는 보상의 도움을 받을 수도 있습니다. 결과적으로는 반려견이 기본적으로 여러분에게 딱 붙어 있게 되는 것입니다. 기준은 반려견이 여러분 쪽으로 기대는 것입니다. 살짝 닿아 있든 무엇이든 상관없습니다. 하지만 반려견은 여러분의 움직임이 곧 나아갈 방향이자 흐름이라는 것을 이해하게 됩니다. 이제 드라이브는 반려견이 고조된 정신 상태에 있다는 것을 의미합니다. 반려견은 보통 '소스(Source)'라고 하는 것에 흥분해 있는 상태죠. 레벨 1에서 우리가 모두 반려견에게 가르쳤던 소스 포커스(Source focus)를 기억하시나요? 반려견이 자연스럽게 끌리는 대상에 관심을 갖도록 가르치는 것이죠. 자, 이것은 제가 사료 한 알을 들고 있는 것 같은 단순한 것부터 디코이(Decoy)를 보는 것까지 다양합니다. 디코이를 정말 강력하게 물고 싶거나 공을 너무나 쫓고 싶은 것과 같은 것이죠. 정말 좋네요. 정말 마음에 듭니다. 정말 좋습니다. 그것이 반려견에게 에너지를 만들어 줍니다. 그러므로 개는 자신이 보는 것에 자연스럽게 이끌리게 되는데, 그것이 바로 MVP에서 가르쳐 드린 내용입니다. 그러한 자연스러운 본능을 그대로 유지하도록 해서 개가 그것을 활용할 수 있게 하는 것이죠. 즉, 개가 에너지를 만들어내고 있는 것은 아닙니다. 하지만 여기서 중요한 사실은 어느 시점에는 여전히 방향에 대한 통제권을 가지고 있어야 한다는 것입니다. 이는 이 본능적 욕구(drive)가 어디로 향할지 통제하고 싶다는 의미이며, 항상 근원(source)을 향해 직선으로만 움직이는 것은 아니라는 뜻입니다. 때로는 멀어지게 하거나, 180도 돌아서 반대 방향으로 가거나, 옆으로 가게 만들고 싶을 때도 있으니까요. 따라서 정렬(alignment)이 본능적 욕구(drive)보다 우선합니다. 당신의 동기화(synchronicity)가 개에게는 하나의 신호라는 뜻입니다. 처음에 그 근원(source)에 관심을 갖게 된 것을 제외하면, 그것이 가장 우선적으로 따라야 할 요소입니다. 즉, 기본적으로 콘택트 힐(contact heel)에서 이제 스트리트 힐(street heel)로 넘어가는 것입니다. 스트리트 힐은 비주얼 챕터에서 찾아보실 수 있으며, 스트리트 힐은 이 작업을 시도하기 위한 절대적인 전제 조건입니다. 그렇다면 스트리트 힐의 전제 조건은 무엇일까요? 바로 콘택트 힐입니다.
Welcome students to one of our favorite chapters of all time. We say that a lot, but this time it's actually true. It's going to be an absolute game changer. Alignment trumps drive. Now, what does that mean? And why is this going to be so important to you in order to change the game? Well, first let us define for you what alignment means and what drive means and why alignment trumps drive to begin with. Well, alignment is what we call the synchronicity. And you could do that in the movement stuff that we do, the pivots you see. And contact heal, it's all about synchronization, going one step forward, one step backwards, pivoting, the street heal also based on alignment. So what it means is your dog understands to align with you. In the beginning, that could be still with the help of reward. In the end game, that is just by default, your dog is literally attached to you. The reference is your dog is just leaning towards you. It's just slightly touching you, whatever it is. But your dog understands that you moving is the way to go or to flow. Now, drive means your dog is in an elevated state of mind drive. He's excited about something that is usually the source. The source that we all taught our dogs and the level ones, remember source focus, is where you teach the dog to be interested in what they're attracted to naturally. Okay, now that could go from simple things just says I'm holding a piece of kibble towards I'm seeing a decoy and I absolutely want to bite this decoy so bad or want to chase this ball so bad. I love it. I love it. I love it. That creates energy for the dog. So the dog is naturally going to be attracted towards what it sees is that's what we taught you in the MVP to allow that to have that natural instinct intact so your dog can use it. So the dog is not producing energy. But important fact here is at some point you still need to have control over directions. That means you want to control where this drive is going to and it's not always going in a linear line towards the source itself. But sometimes you want to just go away, 180 away through the side, wherever. So that means alignment will trump drive. That means your synchronicity is a signal for the dog. That is what is primarily to be followed except for you being interested in that source to begin with. So basically from a contact heel, you're going now into a street heel. And that means your street heel, you can look that up in the visual chapter, your street heel is the absolute prerequisite to even attempt doing this. So now that said, what is the prerequisite of the street heel? It is the contact heel.

What is the prerequisite of the contact heel? It is source focus. What is the prerequisite of source focus? It is drive building towards that source. And then you can literally use anything you want. And that's why we called it alignment from drive. That means also this is a level three skill. Let me tell you what level three is. That means you already have a set of skills that you can combine because in this module specifically, you're going to combine what you've been doing before, such as source focus, contact heel, street heel, drive development, and switching drives. So very important that you understand how drive switching works because else none of this would even take place. And that is the game changer. Now, why is it the game changer? Because you might not even be in protection work. You might not even care about those type of equations because you want to simulate what matters. And you want to simulate it in an equation that you can control. And that means if you can create and simulate an equation where your dog is extremely driven and interested to go towards one point, now you want to use that exact simulation to control your movement and your alignment. So that's why alignment trumps drive. And that's why if you get this one right, if you put in the time, you don't skip, you don't hack. There's no hacks here, okay? You have to put in the work. But when you do, this is an absolute game changer because it can be done without corrections. Most people will need a tool. Most people will need to pull their dog away from whatever it is they want the most. Most people cannot compete anymore towards what is in the real world that your dog is so interested in. He forgets all about you. And alignment is the thing that's going to save you, that's going to help you regain control. And the dog's actually going to do it willingly.
