강아지가 왜 무는지 이유를 알면 입질 문제를 해결하는 데 도움이 될 것입니다. 그래서 저는 이것을 준비했습니다. 강아지가 무는 10가지 주요 이유를 다룬 영상입니다. 안녕하세요, 수잔 가렛입니다. 저는 30년 넘게 수상 경력에 빛나는 반려견 훈련 경험을 살려 여러분이 꿈꾸는 반려견과 함께하는 것이 얼마나 쉬운 일인지 보여주는 영상을 만들고 있습니다. 강아지들은 왜 물까요? 당연히 유전적인 요인이 있습니다. 어떤 견종은 본능적으로 무는 성향이 더 강하죠. 흔히 말하는 두려움도 있습니다. 어떤 강아지들은 너무 겁에 질려서 무는 것 외에는 선택의 여지가 없기도 합니다. 한배에서 태어난 형제들의 숫자 같은 요인도 있죠. 강아지가 적절한 사회화를 거치며 입의 힘을 조절하는 법을 배웠을까요? 하지만 가장 큰 이유는 강아지이기 때문입니다. 강아지들은 입을 사용해 세상을 탐색합니다. 그들은 물기도 하죠. 만약 무는 강아지를 원치 않으신다면, 강아지는 원래 무는 동물이니 여러분과 잘 맞지 않을지도 모릅니다. 강아지는 원래 그러니까요. 제가 수강생들에게 강아지의 입질 문제에 대해 물어보는 5가지 핵심 질문이 있습니다. 첫째, 강아지가 지나치게 피곤한 상태인가요? 강아지들은 스스로 감정을 조절할 수 없기 때문입니다. 많은 강아지가 멈추지 않고 계속해서 무언가를 하려고 합니다. 그러다 너무 피곤해지면 물기 시작하죠. 따라서 강아지가 규칙적으로 낮잠을 자도록 해야 합니다. 낮잠의 빈도나 시간은 강아지의 나이에 따라 다릅니다. 여러분은 강아지가 피라냐나 악어 같은 괴물로 변하기 전에 낮잠을 재워야 합니다. 좌절감도 원인입니다. 강아지가 리드줄에 묶여 있는데 가고 싶은 곳이 있을 때 나타날 수 있죠. 장벽 뒤에 있거나 누군가가 강아지를 붙잡고 못 가게 할 때도 발생할 수 있습니다. 강아지를 억지로 고정해 놓은 상황일 수도 있죠. 훈련 과정에서 너무 많은 체벌이 가해져서 좌절감을 느낄 수도 있습니다. 아니면 명확한 지침이 부족해서일 수도 있죠. 제가 강아지 입질 문제를 별로 겪지 않는 가장 큰 이유 중 하나가 제가 원하는 행동을 쉽게 하도록 만들기 때문이라고 말씀드렸던 것 기억하시나요? 강아지가 좌절하지 않도록 올바른 행동을 매우 쉽게 만들어 주고 싶거든요. 자신감이 생긴 다음에는 복잡성을 더할 수 있지만, 어린 강아지일수록 명확하게 유지하세요. 강아지는 과도하게 흥분할 수 있는데, 아이들의 비명 소리나 자동차 소리, 혹은 환경에서 이전에 본 적 없는 것들 때문일 수 있습니다. 그럴 때 강아지는 주변에 있는 것을 물어버리는 전위 행동을 할 수 있습니다. 그러니 그런 상황에서 거리를 멀리 유지해주고, 강아지가 가까이 있을 때 자신감을 키울 수 있도록 도와주세요. 강아지들이 흥분하는 것은 당연하지만, 무언가를 물어야 할 정도로 너무 흥분하게 만들지는 말아야 합니다.
Knowing why your puppy bites will help you overcome the biting. So I put together this video with the 10 main reasons why your puppy may bite. Why are puppies biting? Now there's obviously there's genetics. Some breeds are more prone to want to bite. There's also the common fear. Some puppies just get terrified and they have no other choice but to biting. There's things like the number of siblings that were in that litter. Did the puppy get proper socialization and learn how to have an inhibited bite? But really a big general reason is they're puppies. Puppies use their mouth to investigate. They bite. If you don't want to have a puppy that bites, this is more your kind of puppy because puppies bite. That's what they do. There's five key questions that I'll ask my students if they're having a problem with the puppy nipping. Number one, is that puppy overtired? Because puppies can't self-regulate. A lot of puppies will keep going and going and going and going and going. They get overtired and they just start biting. So you need to make sure that puppy is getting regular naps. And it depends on the age of the puppy, how regular or how long those naps are. You want to give them a nap before they turn into that piranha, crocodilian type creature. Frustration. So it could be that the puppy is on a leash and they want you to get to someplace. It could be they're behind a barrier. It could be somebody's holding them and holding them back from something. They might be pinning them back. It could be they're frustrated because there's just way too much punishment in their world when you're trying to train them. Or there isn't enough clarity. Remember I said one of the biggest reasons that I don't get much puppy biting with my puppies is because I make what I want easy. I want the correct to be super easy so that dog or that puppy doesn't get frustrated. You can add complexity once they have confidence, but with young puppies, keep things clear. Puppies get overstimulated and it might be kids screaming or cars or things that they've not seen in their environment before. And they may redirect and bite something that's nearby. So keep them further away from the action and help them grow their confidence when they are near things. They're going to get excited, but we don't want them to get so excited that they need to bite at

something. Number four reason, puppy's just hungry. So if they're hungry, yes, they're going to want to use their mouth more. So make sure when you're training that you have a puppy that's had a little bit of breakfast first or lunch or dinner first, before you start your training something about their mouth. Now puppies teeth, when they teeth, they will get more bitey. I like to have a stuffed Kong or topple in the freezer. So when my puppies are teething, they get a lot of times I'll let them have that to chew on. So if they're not teething, it could be that they have a problem with their teeth. Maybe they've got a double tooth that a tooth didn't fall out and another one stuck and it's causing some pain, or they may just have like an overbite and the teeth on the bottom are growing up in the wrong locations in the top. So dentistry is definitely a reason to look at. So those are five easy things that you can pinpoint into why your puppy is, is biting to help minimize.
